With the birth of Arlo, I knew that I could no longer eat like a college student [goodbye nightly mac n cheese!] And having a natural aversion to all things green and healthy, I knew I had to trick myself into better eating habits. Smoothies were an awesome solution. Worried that my son might acquire the same distaste for fruits and veggies, I quickly transformed this into a morning ritual for the both of us. Now every morning, we get to share this delicious green smoothie together – giving us a nutritious jumpstart to the day!

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 peeled kiwi
  • 1 circular slice of pineapple
  • 1 small green apple
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 small avocado
  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt [I use Fage Nonfat Total 0%]
  • 1 cup ice

Optional: Up your antioxidant and Omega-3 intake by adding some yummy açai chia seed pudding to the mix.

Blend all ingredients for a few minutes. Then mix in any chunks that got sprayed onto the sides and blend again for another minute or two.

Arlo’s adorable noise cancellation headphones for when I blend ice. I might baby him just a bit 😉

Enjoy! Best served fresh, but I have stored leftovers in the fridge for Arlo to eat later that same day.
